| Artist statement |
Human figures played a major role in my work with emphasis on the fertility symbol! Then my skin depigmentation prompted me to add an organic element in my work. This leads to more quests in search of the size of small things, a starting point or the end, a zero point, no man’s land. Questions arise: how wide is a point? What is the connection between my past and my present? Dots and spots are increasingly visible in my work, for example in my Soft Sculpture performances where interactions take place between man and his environment after which the residue remains as an autonomous sculpture or as a trace. Safety, layering and armor as protection are increasingly appearing in my work which is about contain, enclose and stratification. I more and more experiment with light and sound as security attributes. Since Winter 2010 I am occupied by my philosophy 'Examining the void wherein lies the foundation of the existing present'. Examining this void shapes my work.
